yo chat (CHAT) is a decentralized, over-collateralized stablecoin native to the blockchain. Its core purpose is to maintain a stable peg to the US Dollar. Users generate CHAT by depositing accepted collateral assets into a smart contract vault on the yo chat protocol, which acts as both the minting and management platform for the stablecoin.

Users face several risks, including potential smart contract bugs and economic exploits inherent in DeFi protocols. There's also the risk of interacting with fake websites (phishing). Additionally, users must understand the liquidation risk, particularly when staking CHAT, as their capital may be used to purchase liquidated collateral, which could lead to a decrease in their CHAT balance.

You can stake CHAT by connecting a compatible Web3 wallet, specifying the desired deposit amount, and approving the contract. While yo chat has undergone audits by security firms, staking, like all DeFi activities, carries inherent risks such as smart contract vulnerabilities and economic exploits. When staking in the Stability Pool, users implicitly accept the risk that their deposited CHAT may be used to absorb liquidated collateral, potentially reducing their CHAT balance. There is no lock-up period for CHAT in the Stability Pool, allowing withdrawal at any time unless a liquidation is actively in progress.

CHAT serves as the liquid governance token of the protocol. In contrast, veCHAT, which stands for vote-escrowed CHAT, is a non-transferable token. It represents the voting power that users acquire by locking their CHAT tokens for a specified period. Essentially, CHAT provides liquidity and can be traded, while veCHAT is dedicated solely to governance and is not meant for circulation.

Governance voting is conducted on-chain through the yo chat decentralized application (dApp). Holders of veCHAT are eligible to participate. These veCHAT holders can cast their votes on various governance proposals, which may be submitted either by the community members or by the core development team of the yo chat protocol. This system allows for community-driven decision-making regarding the protocol's future.

When CHAT is deposited into the Stability Pool, users inherently accept a specific risk related to liquidation events. During a liquidation, a portion of the deposited CHAT will be used to purchase the liquidated collateral. This mechanism is designed to maintain the stablecoin's peg. Consequently, participating users' CHAT balances in the Stability Pool may decrease as their tokens are utilized in this process.
