WePower was established as a blockchain-based green energy trading platform intended to facilitate renewable energy auctions. After an initial period of development and real-world partnerships, the project experienced a significant loss of momentum. By 2021, development activity stalled, and the project's official communication channels became inactive. Currently, the official website is frequently unreachable, and social media accounts have remained silent for several years, leading the community to classify the project as defunct or abandoned.

While WePower initially produced working concepts and established partnerships, its eventual abandonment without a formal exit statement has led many participants to view it critically. The primary complaint from the community involves the total lack of communication from the team as development ceased. Because the project transitioned from an active startup to an unmaintained state without providing a clear roadmap or closure for token holders, many now regard it as an exit scam or a slow abandonment.

Trading WPR has become extremely difficult. The token has been delisted from most major global centralized exchanges due to a lack of development activity and insufficient liquidity. While some decentralized platforms might still host the token, the available liquidity is often non-existent. The founders, Nikolaj Martyniuk and Kaspar Kaarlep, have largely distanced themselves from the WePower brand. This shift has caused significant frustration among early supporters, as the transition occurred without a formal handover or continued support for the original token ecosystem.

The WPR token was originally designed as a utility token within the WePower ecosystem with three primary functions. First, it was meant to provide priority access, giving holders the first right to participate in energy auctions on the platform. Second, it featured an energy donation model where a small percentage of green energy produced by projects on the platform was allocated to token holders. Finally, it was intended to serve as the primary medium for trading Smart Energy Contracts to provide liquidity to the green energy market.
