Unlike traditional DeFi lending protocols that charge ongoing interest, it allows users to lock up collateral like ETH, WBTC, or Gold to mint stablecoins at 0% interest. This unique model enables users to access liquidity without their debt increasing over time through interest accrual.
The protocol utilizes a dual-token system to separate governance from debt. TST is the native governance and utility token used for staking, earning rewards, and voting on protocol changes. In contrast, sEURO and USDs are the stablecoins that users borrow against their deposited assets. While TST represents a membership role in the ecosystem, the stablecoins function as the primary medium for loans.
TST staking rewards are derived from protocol activity rather than simple inflation. The yield is generated from minting and burning fees collected by the protocol. Whenever a user opens a loan or pays it back, a portion of the transaction fee is distributed to those staking TST. This ensures that rewards are tied directly to the growth and usage of the platform.
By staking TST in a Yield Account, users gain the ability to automatically purchase liquidated collateral. When a Smart Vault's collateral ratio falls below 110%, the protocol allows TST stakers to buy the underlying assets, such as ETH or LINK, at a 9.9% discount compared to current market prices. This mechanism helps maintain protocol stability while rewarding TST holders with discounted assets.
TST holders possess governance rights that allow them to influence the direction of the protocol. This includes voting on the introduction of new collateral types, adjusting fee structures, and approving the launch of additional stablecoins like sUSD or sGBP. This decentralized approach ensures that the community maintains control over the platform's evolution and economic parameters.
TST originally launched on Ethereum but has focused its liquidity on Arbitrum One to provide users with lower transaction fees. It is also available on Polygon. Users can access TST through leading decentralized exchanges and various top-tier crypto wallets.
