NØNOS (Non-Operating System) is a computing system and a Web3 project built entirely in Rust. It emphasizes zero-trust security, privacy, and modularity, aiming to fundamentally reimagine operating system design. It provides a secure and private computing environment that operates entirely in RAM, offering a modern approach to digital security and user autonomy.

NØNOS tackles pervasive issues like surveillance, data tracking, and silent data extraction common in traditional computing systems. NØNOS achieves its goals through several key principles: a Rust microkernel with compile-time memory safety and capability-based security; a ZeroState Runtime operating entirely in RAM for diskless, clean-state execution; Anonymous Networking via an encrypted mesh (often using Anyone SDK) to obscure user identities; cryptographic verification required for all processes; and a foundational zero-trust mindset where all system behavior is explicit and verifiable, removing implicit trust entirely.

The $N0NOS token ($NOX) is the core utility asset within the NØNOS ecosystem. It enables staking for operating encrypted relays, publishing verified modules, or deploying decentralized applications. It serves as a payment method for microservices like encrypted messaging and zero-knowledge private testnets. Additionally, it rewards developers, facilitates token-based governance, aligns ecosystem incentives, and operates under a deflationary model where supply reduction correlates with network activity, fostering economic sustainability.
