Xpanse is an expansion of the Horizon Protocol ecosystem rather than a rebrand. While Horizon Protocol continues to provide the underlying synthetic asset system, Xpanse acts as the user-facing trading platform featuring a triple-liquidity model. HZN remains the native token for the entire ecosystem. Current holders do not need to swap or migrate their tokens; instead, the utility of HZN is expanding to cover new features and services within the Xpanse platform.

Revenue is generated through trading fees from intent-based and futures trading, AI-powered subscription services, and liquidation fees. Under the HIP-23 proposal, the revenue-sharing model allocates 40% to HZN stakers and 40% toward buybacks and burns to manage the circulating supply. The remaining 20% is reserved for the treasury and ongoing development. System-wide buybacks and burns are scheduled to begin in March 2025 to support the ecosystem's health.

The project maintains a target Collateralization Ratio of 350%. If the global C-Ratio stays above this threshold, more revenue is distributed to stakers. If it falls below, revenue is prioritized for buybacks to stabilize the system. While core staking is currently focused on its primary network, Xpanse has expanded trading to major Layer 2 networks. The long-term roadmap includes a unified cross-chain experience, allowing for a simplified staking process across multiple supported chains.

Viper AI and KnightML are proprietary AI-driven tools designed to provide traders with advanced market insights. Viper AI is engineered to predict directional market momentum, while KnightML provides adaptive signals tailored to various risk levels. These tools are integrated into the Xpanse platform and are accessible through a subscription model, offering users data-backed signals to enhance their trading strategies.

Intent-based trading is a technical evolution beyond traditional order books. Instead of matching a buyer directly with a seller on a ledger, users express their 'intent'—such as the desire to buy an asset at a specific price. Professional market makers, known as solvers, then compete to fill that order. This competition is designed to provide the user with the most efficient execution, minimal slippage, and improved liquidity.
