Bloktopia is a decentralized metaverse project built on the Polygon network that takes the form of a virtual reality skyscraper. This digital tower consists of twenty-one levels, a number chosen to pay homage to the total supply of twenty-one million Bitcoin. The project is designed to serve as a central hub for the cryptocurrency community, offering a space where users can access information, interact with brands, and engage in social activities in a highly immersive environment. The core experience of Bloktopia is built upon four primary pillars: learn, earn, play, and create. As an educational hub, it provides a platform for users of all experience levels to learn about blockchain technology and decentralized finance through interactive content and events. The play aspect allows visitors to socialize, explore various levels of the skyscraper, and participate in games using personalized avatars. Real estate within the skyscraper is managed through a non-fungible token system. There are two main types of virtual assets: REBLOK and ADBLOK. REBLOK refers to the ownership of virtual space or stores within the tower. Owners can develop these spaces for their own use or lease them to other businesses and projects. ADBLOK represents advertising space located on prominent totems and banners throughout the levels. These assets allow participants to generate rewards and participate in the ecosystem's economy. Technologically, Bloktopia leverages the Unity game engine to create high-quality 3D visualizations. While it is primarily hosted on Polygon to ensure fast and efficient transactions, the project has expressed goals of moving toward a multichain approach to increase accessibility. The skyscraper includes specific landmarks such as a central hub on level one for navigation, an auditorium on level six for hosting virtual presentations and talks, and a penthouse dedicated to gaming and competition on the top floor. The BLOK token serves as the native utility currency for the entire ecosystem. It is used for all transactions within the metaverse, including the purchase of virtual property, customizing avatars, and participating in governance. Holders can also use the token to access exclusive events and join community programs. The project was founded by industry veterans Ross Tavakoli and Paddy Carroll, along with technical lead Simon Benson. It has established a significant network of partners and investors, including Animoca Brands and Polygon. Many major cryptocurrency companies and influencers, known as anchor tenants, have established virtual headquarters within the skyscraper to showcase their brands and interact with the community.
