It appears as an "External XC-20" token. Essentially, it allows the widely used USDC stablecoin to become natively accessible and usable across the interconnected Polkadot network, enabling broader DeFi and application integration.

xcUSDC is indirectly backed by the robust reserves held by Circle, the regulated issuer of native USDC. These reserves typically consist of cash and short-dated U.S. government obligations, ensuring that native USDC maintains its 1:1 peg to the US dollar. xcUSDC’s stability on Polkadot parachains relies entirely on the integrity and solvency of Circle's backing for the underlying USDC, along with the secure transfer mechanisms.
