Whiteheart is a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol offering "Hedge Contracts" for Ethereum (ETH) and Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC). It functions by automatically purchasing put options through an underlying options protocol when a user acquires a hedge contract. This mechanism ensures that users' digital asset values are protected against price drops below a predetermined level, effectively acting as portfolio insurance within the DeFi ecosystem.

The WHITE token serves as the native utility and governance token for the protocol. Its core functions include enabling holders to earn a portion of the fees generated from hedge contracts when their tokens are staked. Furthermore, WHITE grants holders governance rights, allowing them to participate in voting on critical protocol parameters such as supported asset types and fee structures. Staking WHITE also offers rewards to users.

The WHITE token is characterized by a fixed and unalterable total supply, capped at precisely 8,888 tokens. This unique characteristic means that the entire supply is already in circulation, with no further tokens designated for minting. The predetermined scarcity of WHITE is a fundamental aspect of its design, distinguishing it from projects with larger or variable token supplies.

Whiteheart functions as an additional utility layer specifically built on top of the Hegic options protocol. Its primary role is to streamline and simplify the typically complex process of acquiring options on Hegic by automating it into an accessible "hedge contract." This integration makes options trading more user-friendly. Initially, the Whiteheart project received funding in Ethereum from the Hegic development fund to establish its initial operational liquidity.

The Whiteheart protocol remains functional as a collection of immutable smart contracts deployed on the Ethereum blockchain. This means it continues to operate effectively as long as the underlying Ethereum network and the Hegic protocol are operational. While the core functionality persists, active development efforts and marketing outreach have notably decreased. The project is generally considered a legacy DeFi protocol, with current operational engagement differing from its initial phase.

Given its decentralized nature, WHITE is typically traded on decentralized exchanges. The main platform for acquiring or trading WHITE is Uniswap V2 on the Ethereum network.
