Union utilizes zk-IBC (Zero-Knowledge Inter-Blockchain Communication) to facilitate interoperability. Unlike traditional bridges that rely on centralized multisigs or external oracles—which require trusting human intermediaries—Union uses mathematical proofs to verify transactions. This architecture ensures a trustless environment where security is guaranteed by cryptography. Additionally, the network's security is bolstered by the Groth16 trusted setup, which involved over 5,800 participants to ensure robust zk-proof generation.

The $U token serves three core functions: gas, staking, and governance. It is used as gas to pay for every cross-chain proof and message processed by the network. As a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain, $U is also used for staking to secure the infrastructure. Finally, token holders can participate in governance, voting on protocol upgrades and decisions directly from Union or even from connected chains like Ethereum.

The total genesis supply for $U is 10 billion tokens, with an initial circulating supply of approximately 1.9 billion at launch. To maintain network security and incentivize participants, Union employs an annual inflation model. The rate starts at 6% and decreases by 10% each year. This reduction continues until the inflation reaches a terminal rate of 2%, balancing early participant rewards with long-term token sustainability.

Staking $U tokens allows users to help secure the network while earning rewards derived from network emissions and transaction fees. However, users should be aware of the unbonding period, which typically lasts 21 days. During this time, tokens are locked and cannot be moved or traded. This period is a standard security feature in many PoS networks to ensure validator stability and prevent malicious activity.

Through a partnership with Babylon, Union is a key component of the Bitcoin Supercharged Network (BSN). This integration enables Bitcoin restaking, allowing BTC holders to use their assets to secure the Union network. This setup provides a way for users to earn rewards using their Bitcoin holdings while simultaneously strengthening the interoperability bridge between the Bitcoin ecosystem and other Layer 1 networks.

$U is listed on prominent cryptocurrency exchanges, including LBank. It is also available as an ERC-20 token on decentralized platforms like PancakeSwap. To view $U in a wallet like MetaMask, users must either configure the wallet with the correct Layer 1 RPC settings for the native network or import the specific ERC-20 contract address to see their holdings on the Ethereum network.
