Tomb Finance is a decentralized finance project built on the Fantom Opera network. It introduced the first algorithmic token designed to be pegged to the value of the Fantom utility token rather than a traditional fiat currency. The primary goal of the project is to provide a liquid and interchangeable asset that mirrors the price of the native network token, thereby increasing the overall liquidity and utility within the Fantom ecosystem. The protocol operates using a multi-token system comprising three distinct assets. The first is the Tomb token, which serves as the core algorithmic asset intended to track the value of the underlying network token. The second is Tomb Shares, which function as the governance and reward token for the platform. Holders of these shares can participate in protocol decisions and receive rewards during expansionary phases. The third asset is Tomb Bonds, which are utilized during contractionary periods to help maintain the peg by incentivizing the removal of tokens from circulation. The project features several key components that facilitate its seigniorage mechanics. The Cemetery is a section of the platform where users can provide liquidity and stake their tokens to earn rewards. The Masonry, also known as the Boardroom, is where share holders can stake their assets to receive newly minted tokens when the supply expands. The Pit allows users to purchase bonds when the token value falls below its target, helping to reduce supply and restore the intended balance. By creating a mirrored asset, the protocol aims to solve potential liquidity shortages on the Fantom network. Since a significant portion of the native tokens are often locked in staking to secure the network, Tomb Finance provides a medium of exchange that users can utilize for trading and other decentralized applications while still maintaining exposure to the network's value. The project was developed to serve as a foundational pillar for the ecosystem, offering specialized tools for yield generation and supply management through automated smart contracts. While it has faced various shifts in its roadmap and community management over time, it remains a notable example of algorithmic seigniorage models applied to volatile assets within the Web3 space.
