Telcoin (TEL) is a blockchain-based payments project centered on mobile-first remittances and cross-border transfers. Telcoin's primary use case revolves around cross-border mobile payments and remittances, providing a swifter and more economical solution compared to conventional money transfer services. The TEL token functions as the native utility token within the Telcoin ecosystem. It facilitates rapid, low-cost international money transfers, covers transaction and exchange fees on the platform (including the TELx network), and is utilized for staking to influence earning power and governance within the ecosystem.

Telcoin is an ERC-20 token initially built on the Ethereum blockchain. To enhance transaction speeds and reduce fees, the Telcoin application has transitioned to the Polygon PoS Chain. The ecosystem comprises integrated layers: the Telcoin App, a self-custody wallet; TELx, its DeFi liquidity engine; and the Telcoin Network, an EVM-compatible blockchain secured by GSMA telecom validators, which is currently under development. TEL also serves as the native gas token for the Telcoin Network.

Telcoin places a high emphasis on both security and regulatory compliance. It employs stringent KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures and leverages multi-signature technology to protect user assets. Furthermore, Telcoin is set to become the first Digital Asset Depository Institution chartered under Nebraska's Financial Innovation Act by November 2025, demonstrating its commitment to bridging traditional banking and decentralized finance within a fully regulated framework.

No, direct transfers of TEL from an Ethereum ERC20 wallet or a centralized exchange to the Telcoin Application wallet are not supported. TEL tokens must first be moved to the Polygon network. This is typically done via a Polygon bridge, utilizing a compatible Web3 wallet. Once the tokens are successfully on the Polygon network, they can then be deposited into the Telcoin Application wallet. This essential bridging step may incur network fees and its completion time is subject to network activity.

Telcoin is designed to facilitate low-cost remittances. Although the whitepaper initially indicated a 0.5% transaction fee for conversions involving TEL and mobile money, aiming for a total remittance fee of approximately 1%, actual costs can vary. When TEL is transferred on the Ethereum network, network gas fees might apply. However, the Telcoin platform's overall goal is to maintain total remittance fees at 2% or less, which is substantially lower than the global average for conventional money transfer services. Users are also responsible for TEL gas fees for transactions on the Telcoin Network.
