While the RMT token remains hosted on its native network, public development activity has been minimal since 2021. The official mobile app has experienced stability issues on major app stores, and users have reported difficulties with fund deposits and transaction processing. Due to a lack of recent roadmap updates or official communications, the project is currently considered dormant by many in the community.

RMT is a Stellar-based asset and is primarily available on decentralized exchanges (DEX) within the Stellar ecosystem. Since it is no longer listed on many major centralized platforms, users typically use Stellar-compatible decentralized trading interfaces or integrated wallet exchanges to manage their positions. It is important to note that liquidity is currently very low, which can impact the ability to execute trades without significant slippage.

The project was originally designed with a deflationary model intended to reduce total supply over time. Transaction fees generated within the SureRemit app were meant to be converted into RMT and sent to an inaccessible 'dead' address. However, because current transaction volumes on the platform have significantly decreased, the actual impact of this burn mechanism on the token's circulating supply is currently considered negligible.

RMT is not an ERC-20 token and cannot be stored in standard Ethereum wallets. As a Stellar-native asset, it requires a wallet that specifically supports the Stellar Network. To manage RMT, users must use a compatible Stellar wallet and establish a 'trustline' for the asset. Several community-standard Stellar mobile and desktop wallets are suitable for holding and managing these tokens securely.

SureRemit was designed to provide digital vouchers for major retailers in African markets, primarily Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana. Historically, users could purchase gift cards for large retail chains and utility providers. However, many users have recently reported that these merchant integrations are frequently broken or listed as 'out of stock' within the app, leading to uncertainty regarding the current state of the merchant network.

The RMT token is a utility asset created for non-cash remittances, allowing the African diaspora to send value home in the form of vouchers rather than cash. It is used within the ecosystem to pay for services, settle utility bills, and purchase gift cards. The token's design aims to provide a more efficient and cost-effective alternative to traditional cross-border money transfer services by utilizing blockchain technology.
