TREAT, which stands for Transactional Rewards for Engagement and Access Token, is the fourth and final core component of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, joining SHIB, BONE, and LEASH. The official launch of the TREAT token took place on January 14, 2025. Prior to this date, the Shiba Inu development team issued several warnings to the community that any tokens labeled 'TREAT' found on decentralized exchanges were fraudulent, as the legitimate ecosystem token was not yet live.
Each token in the Shiba Inu ecosystem serves a unique purpose. SHIB is the community-governance foundation. BONE is the technology-focused gas token for the Shibarium Layer-2 network. LEASH provides exclusivity for early access to land sales and NFT drops. TREAT is designated as the 'innovation' token, providing ecosystem rewards, governing the Layer-3 network, and supporting the liquidity of the upcoming SHI stablecoin.
TREAT has several key functions: it serves as the reward token for ShibaSwap and the Shiba Eternity game, acts as the gas and governance mechanism for the new privacy-focused Layer-3 blockchain, and provides the liquidity necessary to maintain the peg of the SHI stablecoin. Furthermore, it grants access to the Shiba Network State, which includes advanced Web3 technologies like decentralized identity and AI frameworks.
TREAT is available on major cryptocurrency exchanges, including LBank. Following its official launch, the token was distributed via airdrops and exchange listings. To trade or claim TREAT on these platforms, users are typically required to complete standard identity verification (KYC).
