Raydium is an Automated Market Maker (AMM) and decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the Solana blockchain. It is unique because it bridges the gap between traditional order book trading and AMM models by sharing liquidity with a central limit order book. This allows users to access liquidity from both standard pools and limit orders. By leveraging Solana's high speed, Raydium provides an efficient environment for swapping assets and providing liquidity with significantly lower transaction costs.

The RAY token is the native utility token of the protocol and serves three main purposes. First, it is used for staking, where holders can earn a portion of protocol fees. Second, it functions as a governance token, enabling users to vote on protocol improvements and fee structures. Third, staking RAY is required to participate in AcceleRaytor launchpad events, which provide early access to new project token offerings within the ecosystem.

Staking RAY is a single-asset process where you deposit RAY into a pool to earn protocol rewards without the risk of impermanent loss. Liquidity mining, or farming, involves depositing a pair of tokens into a pool. While liquidity mining often provides higher rewards—including trading fees and additional tokens—participants are subject to impermanent loss if the relative prices of the two tokens in the pair diverge significantly.

Concentrated Liquidity (CLMM) is an advanced feature that allows liquidity providers to allocate their capital within a specific price range rather than across the entire price curve. This significantly increases capital efficiency, as the liquidity is used more effectively for trades happening within that range, leading to higher fee earnings. However, providers must monitor their positions, as they stop earning fees if the market price moves outside their chosen range.

The most common reason for a failed swap is slippage, especially during periods of high volatility. If the price of a token changes faster than the transaction processes, the trade is cancelled to protect the user. This often happens during popular token launches. To fix this, users can manually increase their slippage tolerance in the settings—often to 1.0% or higher—to ensure the transaction is completed successfully.

Raydium is the primary destination for tokens migrating from popular Solana-based bonding curve launchpads. Once a project completes its initial phase on those platforms, its liquidity is automatically migrated to Raydium. Additionally, the protocol supports permissionless pool creation, allowing any user to create a liquidity pair for any SPL token by providing the initial assets and paying a creation fee, which ensures a decentralized and open listing process.
