Qubit (QBT) is the native governance and utility token of the Qubit Finance protocol. It was a decentralized lending and borrowing platform built on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC), launched in 2021. Its original aim was to offer efficient, low-cost access to DeFi lending services, allowing users to supply crypto assets as collateral to borrow against them or lend assets to earn interest.

In January 2022, Qubit Finance suffered a major security breach, experiencing an $80 million hack. The attacker exploited a vulnerability in its cross-chain bridge, manipulating the logic to mint fake collateral and drain funds from the protocol. This event led to an immediate loss of user funds, protocol insolvency, and a significant decline in the QBT token's market standing and utility.

For most investors, QBT is considered a high-risk asset due to the 2022 security breach and the subsequent decline of the protocol. While some might consider its current market position for speculative purposes, the likelihood of significant recovery is deemed minimal. Investors are generally advised to only consider QBT if they have a high risk tolerance, fully understand its history, and are prepared for a potential total loss of investment.
