PsyopCoin was launched by a pseudonymous individual known as Ben.eth. Originally an NFT collector, they gained significant attention during the 2023 meme coin trend. Despite investigations by on-chain analysts and legal professionals, their true identity remains unknown. Ben.eth was also involved in other projects such as $BEN and $LOYAL, both of which followed a similar pattern of rapid social media hype followed by a decline in project activity and developer engagement.

The project is widely viewed with skepticism and often labeled a 'slow rug' by the Web3 community. While tokens were eventually distributed to participants, the launch was criticized for its lack of transparency and highly lopsided distribution. The creator held a vast majority of the supply, and the absence of locked liquidity or a clear development plan led many observers to characterize it as a high-risk venture that failed to protect its participants.

The presale was conducted through direct wallet transfers, where users were asked to send funds to a personal address without any smart contract guarantees, whitepapers, or formal agreements. This method provides no technical way to ensure token delivery or refunds.
