PRNT is the native governance and utility token for Preprints.io, a decentralized science (DeSci) platform. It is specifically designed to incentivize and reward peer review contributions and to facilitate the decentralized governance of the Preprints.io ecosystem. The platform leverages blockchain technology, with research content often stored as NFTs on compatible networks.

The PRNT token serves multiple key functions within the Preprints.io ecosystem. It can be staked to earn rewards, which are generated from mechanisms like discounted collateral from liquidated positions and ongoing token emissions. PRNT holders can also participate in platform governance by locking their tokens to gain voting power, influencing critical protocol parameters. Additionally, PRNT can be utilized in various "Earn" products or lent out for returns, used for payments, and presents opportunities for arbitrage trading due to its active market.

Staking rewards for PRNT are dynamic, primarily influenced by factors such as liquidation events within the protocol and continuous token emissions. Essentially, PRNT is the transferable asset, while vePRNT is a non-transferable representation of locked PRNT, specifically designed to grant influence over the protocol's governance decisions.

Users can acquire PRNT tokens through several methods. One common way is by purchasing them on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) using stablecoins, typically accessed via a compatible Web3 wallet. PRNT is also available for purchase on centralized exchanges like LBank.
