plvGLP, short for "Plutus Vault GLP," is a derivative token of GLP, which is the liquidity solution from GMX. It operates as an autocompounding vault built by PlutusDAO, designed to optimize rewards for its holders.
While GLP distributes rewards in ETH and esGMX, plvGLP automatically compounds the ETH rewards multiple times daily, serving as a receipt for these re-invested earnings. PlutusDAO retains the esGMX rewards, but plvGLP stakers on the Plutus platform receive PLS emissions, potentially leading to a higher Annual Percentage Rate (APR). Over time, plvGLP is designed to increase in value relative to native GLP due to this continuous autocompounding.
Key benefits include enhanced yield potential through automatic compounding of ETH rewards, a share of exit fees, treasury swap bonus yield, and additional PLS emissions. The autocompounding feature eliminates the need for manual claiming and reinvesting. Furthermore, plvGLP can be utilized as collateral in various DeFi protocols, improving capital efficiency and enabling advanced strategies. It has also undergone audits to enhance security.
Users can acquire plvGLP by depositing GLP into the PlutusDAO vaults, primarily on the Arbitrum network. Typically, there are no fees charged for depositing GLP to mint new plvGLP tokens.
While depositing GLP to mint plvGLP usually incurs no fees, a 2% exit fee is applied when converting plvGLP back to GLP. Additionally, PlutusDAO collects a 10% fee from the generated ETH rewards to cover the operational and maintenance costs of the vault.
As with most decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, smart contract risk is a consideration, meaning there's potential for exploits despite audits by reputable firms. An incident involving a lending protocol saw a price manipulation exploit related to plvGLP, though Plutus confirmed plvGLP functioned as intended.
