Pendulum is a blockchain project designed to bridge the gap between traditional finance and the decentralized finance ecosystem. One of the most significant technological features of the project is the Spacewalk bridge. This is a trust-minimized bridge that connects the Stellar network with the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystems. Because Stellar is home to a wide variety of fiat-backed stablecoins, Spacewalk acts as a vital link that brings this fiat liquidity into the Polkadot decentralized finance space. The bridge is based on established protocols like XCLAIM to ensure security and decentralization. The native utility token of the Pendulum network is identified by the symbol PEN. This token serves several essential functions within the ecosystem. First, it is used as the gas token to pay for transaction fees on the network. Second, PEN is utilized for staking, where token holders can delegate their tokens to collators who help maintain and secure the blockchain, earning rewards in return. Finally, the token plays a central role in on-chain governance. Holders of PEN can propose and vote on changes to the network, such as the listing of new assets, technical upgrades, and the distribution of ecosystem rewards. The project was developed by the team at SatoshiPay, a company with extensive experience in blockchain-based payments.
