In December 2024, Nounspace transitioned its token and liquidity to the Clanker ecosystem on the Base network to utilize enhanced liquidity tools. Users who held $SPACE before the migration or have unclaimed rewards from the initial fair launch are eligible for an airdrop of the new token. Claims are processed through the official Nounspace dashboard. Additionally, stETH deposits for the initial launch have been paused, and users are advised to withdraw their assets from the legacy dashboard as they no longer accrue rewards.

The $SPACE token serves three main purposes. First, it is used for governance, allowing the community to vote on DAO proposals concerning treasury spending and feature development. Second, it enables a tipping system on the Farcaster protocol where holders can reward content creators by using a specific hashtag. Third, holding the token influences 'Space Rank,' a feature that affects how feeds are sorted on the Nounspace client. To receive a daily tipping allowance without spending personal tokens, certain holding requirements must be met.

A 'Space' is a customizable profile or personal 'Homebase' for users on the Nounspace platform. It serves as a Web3-native social page where individuals can express their digital identity. Unlike traditional social media profiles, a Space is modular, allowing users to drag and drop various widgets to personalize the layout and functionality. This provides a flexible environment where users can curate their own social experience and showcase their on-chain activities in a single, decentralized location.

Fidgets are modular mini-applications or applets that can be installed directly into a user’s Space. They add specific functionalities to the profile, such as music players, NFT galleries, price trackers, and interactive on-chain buttons. Because the project is open-source, the library of Fidgets is constantly expanding. Developers can build their own Fidgets using React and submit them via GitHub, allowing the community to continuously introduce new tools and interactive elements to the social ecosystem.

nOGs, or 'Nounspace OG' NFTs, are the primary utility-focused collectibles within the ecosystem. These NFTs grant holders 'lifetime access' to certain platform customization features. Crucially, they are often required to unlock the full tipping functionality of the platform. Users can acquire these NFTs through community onboarding campaigns or on various secondary digital asset marketplaces. They represent a key component for users who want to engage deeply with the platform's social and reward mechanisms.

$SPACE is hosted on the Base network, a popular Layer 2 solution. The token has a defined maximum supply of 1.1 billion units, following an 11-year emission curve that launched in June 2024. While liquidity for the token is available on decentralized exchanges within the Base network, the project’s governance is managed through community-driven DAO tools.
