Moonscape is a blockchain-based resource management and strategy game set in a futuristic lunar environment. Developed by Bitpunch Games with support from the Seascape Network, the project is primarily built on the Moonbeam Network, a parachain of Polkadot, while also maintaining presence on the BNB Smart Chain. It is designed to bridge the gap between traditional strategy gaming and decentralized finance by integrating gaming mechanics with various Web3 features. In Moonscape, players explore a distant moon where they can build and develop their own cities. The core gameplay revolves around resource management, where users collect four main types of materials: rocket juice, yield stones, decentralite, and cryptonium. These resources are obtained through mining using specialized machines or by plundering the settlements of rival players. Combat in the game is turn-based and involves defending one's territory against alien species or other players using non-fungible token vehicles known as Rovers. The project features a unique dual-layered structure for its buildings. Each structure in a player's city serves two purposes: providing in-game benefits, such as researching better technology or improving defenses, and offering integrated decentralized finance elements like liquidity staking. Players can tokenize their progress by converting their cities and Rovers into non-fungible tokens, which allows for ownership and potential trading of these in-game assets. The MSCP token serves as the official utility token for the Moonscape ecosystem. Its primary function is to allow players to acquire MoonDust, a premium in-game resource. MoonDust is used to accelerate progress, such as speeding up the construction of buildings, enhancing resource harvest rates, and purchasing rare or powerful Rovers. The project emphasizes a player-driven economy, where participation in seasonal activities and the utilization of the token can lead to rewards from a collective pool. Moonscape focuses on social and competitive play, allowing users to form guilds, collaborate with allies for mutual growth, and engage in large-scale city sieges. By combining space exploration themes with strategic city-building and blockchain technology, the project aims to provide an immersive experience for both gamers and crypto enthusiasts.
