MAP Protocol (MAPO) is a decentralized Bitcoin Layer-2 and omnichain infrastructure. It enables direct, peer-to-peer swaps of assets like Bitcoin, stablecoins, and various tokens across different blockchains such as Ethereum, Solana, and BNB Chain. It achieves this without relying on centralized intermediaries or "wrapped" assets, ensuring a trustless and secure cross-chain experience by connecting Bitcoin’s security to the broader DeFi ecosystem using light-client and Zero-Knowledge (ZK) technology.

Unlike traditional bridges that often employ centralized "lock-and-mint" mechanisms, MAP Protocol (MAPO) utilizes light clients on each connected blockchain. These light clients independently verify transactions, establishing a "trustless" environment where users rely on the inherent security of the code rather than a third-party bridge operator. This architectural choice enhances security and minimizes reliance on central points of failure, distinguishing it as a more decentralized and robust cross-chain solution.

The MAPO token serves several crucial functions. It is used to pay for gas fees associated with transactions and cross-chain swaps on the MAP Relay Chain. Users can also stake MAPO tokens to help secure the network and earn rewards for their participation. Furthermore, MAPO holders gain governance rights, allowing them to vote in the MAP DAO on important protocol changes, fee adjustments, and strategic token buyback initiatives, ensuring community involvement in the project's evolution.

The MAPO token has a total supply capped at 10 billion tokens. Its distribution is strategically allocated to support network growth and development. Major allocations include 30% designated for mining rewards, compensating validators and network maintainers for their security contributions. Another significant portion, 21%, is allocated to the Ecosystem DAO, funding initiatives that expand the protocol's reach and utility. Additionally, 15% is reserved for developers, with a vesting schedule extending until 2025, aligning incentives for long-term project development.

Users can stake their MAPO tokens by delegating them to validators through the official staking portal. To begin staking and contribute to network security, a minimum of 10 MAPO tokens is required. While staking, there is typically a lock-up period. Choosing a specific lock duration, such as 6 months or 1 year, may qualify stakers for higher multipliers on their earned rewards, though it means the funds will be illiquid until the chosen period concludes.

Beyond external audits, the protocol's fundamental "trust-minimized" architecture is inherently designed to enhance security.
