LYXe (LUKSO [OLD]) is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain that served as a placeholder during the project's early phases, including the Reversible ICO. LYX is the native token of the LUKSO blockchain, used for transaction fees, network security through staking, and interacting with LUKSO’s Universal Profiles. While they represent the same value at a 1:1 ratio, LYXe is a legacy asset that must be migrated to the LUKSO mainnet to be utilized within the native ecosystem.
Migration is handled through the official LUKSO Migration Bridge at migrate.lukso.network. To start, connect a browser wallet containing your LYXe on the Ethereum network. The bridge will burn the LYXe tokens on Ethereum and mint an equal amount of native LYX on the LUKSO mainnet at the identical address. You must have Ethereum (ETH) in your wallet to cover the gas fees required to initiate the transaction on the Ethereum blockchain.
The migration window was recently shortened and is now officially scheduled to close on May 23, 2025. After this date, the official automated bridge will no longer be accessible. While the LUKSO team has indicated that manual migrations for large holders might be considered for a limited time afterward, this is not guaranteed and will likely be a much slower and more difficult process than using the current automated bridge.
If you fail to migrate by May 23, 2025, any LYXe tokens remaining on the Ethereum blockchain will lose their primary utility for powering and interacting with the LUKSO network. As the project focuses entirely on its native mainnet, support for the legacy ERC-20 version will diminish. Additionally, most trading platforms are transitioning to the native LYX token, which may make it increasingly difficult to manage or move the old version once the bridge is decommissioned.
Many exchanges, such as LBank, have already assisted users by performing the token swap automatically. If you hold tokens on an exchange, you should check their specific support announcements. For hardware wallet users, migration is possible by connecting the device to a browser-based wallet like MetaMask. Since the LYX will be sent to the identical address on the LUKSO blockchain, ensure you use the same wallet address throughout the process.
To perform a migration, you must move a minimum of 1 LYXe. Because the process begins on the Ethereum network, you are required to pay gas fees in ETH. A typical migration transaction requires roughly 200,000 gas. The total cost will depend on the current congestion level of the Ethereum network. It is important to have sufficient ETH in your wallet before starting to ensure the transaction completes successfully.
