LORDS is the primary utility and governance token for the Realms World, also known as the Lootverse. It serves as the reserve currency for all decentralized games and assets managed by Bibliotheca DAO. Originally emerging as a derivative of the Loot (for Adventurers) project, LORDS provides a functional economy for the Realms map NFTs. It acts as the gateway for users to interact with the interconnected lore and gaming experiences built within this on-chain ecosystem.

While LORDS was originally launched on Ethereum, the entire ecosystem has migrated to Starknet, a Layer 2 scaling solution. This migration was conducted to support high-speed, fully on-chain gaming (FOCG). By leveraging Starknet, the platform can handle complex game logic and frequent transactions required by titles like Eternum, ensuring a smooth and decentralized experience for players while maintaining the security standards of the underlying Ethereum network.

LORDS is used as an in-game currency for trading essential resources like wood and stone on automated markets. It is also required for logistics, such as creating units to transport goods across the map in games like Eternum. Additionally, the token is used for entry fees in competitive tournaments and serves as the primary currency for purchasing NFTs within the marketplace. Beyond gameplay, LORDS enables governance through a locking mechanism that grants voting power and protocol fee rewards.

veLORDS, or vote-escrowed LORDS, is obtained by locking LORDS tokens for a predetermined period. This mechanism grants users governance voting power on Bibliotheca Improvement Proposals (BIPs), allowing the community to manage the DAO treasury and software development. In addition to voting rights, holding veLORDS entitles users to a share of the protocol fees generated by the ecosystem's games. Governance typically takes place on community voting platforms, requiring users to hold either LORDS or Realm NFTs.

To manage LORDS, users must utilize a Starknet-compatible wallet. For moving funds from Ethereum, the official StarkGate bridge is recommended, though various third-party bridging services are often used for their efficiency. In the context of gameplay, players frequently use specialized session wallets or game controllers to manage their balances seamlessly within the game interface. This ensures that LORDS can be transferred from a main wallet to a gaming-specific wallet for uninterrupted play.

The maximum supply of LORDS is 500,000,000 tokens. The token is fully liquid with no traditional venture capital vesting periods. Instead, supply is distributed via community incentives, gameplay rewards for winning tournaments or selling resources, and DAO treasury management.
