Folks Finance is a non-custodial decentralized finance (DeFi) platform designed for lending, borrowing, trading, and managing digital assets across various blockchain networks. It functions as a cross-chain liquidity hub, leveraging interoperability solutions such as Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) and Wormhole messaging. This design aims to provide a unified experience for users managing assets across different chains.

Folks Finance employs a hub-and-spoke model where the protocol's state is stored on a hub chain, and spoke chains act as user entry points. Cross-chain communication is facilitated by protocols like Wormhole, Chainlink CCIP, and Circle CCTP. This architecture is designed to solve liquidity fragmentation by allowing capital to flow freely between chains without the need for traditional bridges or wrapped tokens, enhancing efficiency and user experience.

The native FOLKS token, planned for release in 2025 with a fixed supply of 50 million, serves three primary functions. Firstly, it enables governance, allowing holders to vote on protocol upgrades. Secondly, users can stake FOLKS to earn rewards and access premium features. Lastly, it functions as an incentive mechanism, distributing rewards to active participants such as liquidity providers and borrowers, fostering engagement and growth within the ecosystem.

Points for airdrops are calculated based on various factors, including activity type and asset class, with cross-chain assets typically receiving higher weightage. Longer engagement periods within the protocol also result in more accumulated points. To claim an airdrop, eligible users can visit the official Folks Finance dashboard and click the "Claim" or "Claim Airdrop" button. A small network transaction fee, usually in TON, is required to execute the claim, though the tokens themselves are free.

Folks Finance is generally regarded as a reputable and safe DeFi project, utilizing non-custodial smart contracts, which means user funds remain under their control. The platform implements robust security measures including regular smart contract audits by specialized Web3 firms such as Trail of Bits, Vantage Point, and CertiK. Additional safeguards include bug bounty programs, rate limits on value transfers, and comprehensive error handling and recovery mechanisms to ensure platform safety and integrity.

An 'Opt-In' operation is a mandatory one-time action required for all Algorand Standard Assets (ASAs) supported by the Folks Finance protocol before they can be utilized. This process connects the token to the user's account within the protocol. Yes, this operation incurs a small Algorand network fee of 0.001 ALGO. Users also need to maintain an additional 0.1 ALGO in their wallet to satisfy the minimum balance requirement, ensuring their account remains active.
