The project was originally known as Kapital DAO but rebranded to KAP Games to pivot its focus toward direct game publishing and distribution. Despite the name change, it retains its decentralized governance structure. The platform serves as a bridge between traditional gaming and Web3 by offering social logins and simplified wallet management for over 100 titles, supported by major partners like Solana, Polygon, and NEAR.

The $KAP token is the central utility asset for the KAP Games ecosystem. It serves as a universal in-game currency for first-party titles, such as Captain & Company, and provides a 10% discount on most in-app purchases when used. Beyond gaming, holders can use $KAP for governance, voting on treasury management and platform referendums. It is also used for liquidity staking and acts as the required currency for purchasing game nodes, which involves a specific burning mechanism to support the ecosystem's health.

The $KAP token is strictly non-inflationary with a fixed total supply of 1 billion tokens. To manage the ecosystem's economy, it utilizes a deflationary mechanism centered around game nodes. When users purchase "Nodes" for partnered games within the KAP portfolio, the $KAP tokens used for these transactions are permanently burned. This process effectively reduces the total circulating supply over time, rewarding long-term ecosystem participation and aligning with the project's growth as more games are integrated.

Captain & Company is a browser-based flagship title where players can choose between two primary roles. 'Captains' own NFT ships and lead crews for high-risk, high-reward opportunities, while 'Company' members can join a captain's crew for free to earn performance-based rewards. Players earn 'Nuggies,' a premium in-game currency, by defeating enemies. Verified players in eligible regions can withdraw these Nuggies as $KAP tokens. The game also integrates with broader network reward systems, allowing players to earn additional assets through active participation.

The ecosystem offers staking opportunities where users can deposit $KAP or LP tokens to earn rewards including $KAP, partner game tokens, and ecosystem points. Additionally, KAP Games features "Proof of Work" nodes for specific games in its portfolio. Unlike many traditional models, often 100% of a specific game's token supply is distributed directly to these node holders. Purchasing these nodes requires burning $KAP tokens. Note that certain features, including staking and node sales, are subject to regional restrictions for regulatory compliance.
