Kaia is a high-performance Layer 1 blockchain engineered for the mass adoption of Web3, particularly targeting the Asian market. It boasts features like high transaction speeds, immediate finality, and one-second block times. Its core mission is to integrate Web3 capabilities directly into popular messaging apps such as KakaoTalk and LINE, aiming to reach over 250 million users. Kaia is fully compatible with Ethereum, which facilitates effortless dApp migration and development.

Kaia originated from the strategic merger of two established blockchain ecosystems: Klaytn, supported by Kakao, and Finschia, initiated by LINE. This consolidation was a result of governance decisions made by both chains. The merger's primary goal is to embed Web3 features directly into widely-used messaging platforms, targeting a significant user base in Asia. The Kaia DLT Foundation, established after the 2024 merger, now oversees the project's development and coordination.

The KAIA token is the native cryptocurrency of the Kaia network, serving multiple essential purposes. It is utilized to pay for network transaction fees and to execute smart contracts. Furthermore, KAIA tokens are used to reward users for their contributions to the ecosystem. Holders can also stake their KAIA tokens to help secure the network and actively participate in governance votes, enabling them to influence the future direction and development of the Kaia ecosystem.

KAIA is a direct rebrand of the KLAY token. Existing KLAY token balances were automatically updated to reflect as KAIA, and the Klaytn mainnet continues to operate under the new Kaia name. For FNSA token holders, a dedicated swap service is available on the Kaia Portal. This service allows them to convert their FNSA tokens into an equivalent value of KAIA tokens, ensuring a smooth transition for users from both legacy ecosystems into the unified Kaia network.

Kaia is engineered for high performance, featuring immediate finality and one-second block times, which ensure robust transaction throughput. It achieves strong Ethereum compatibility by being EVM-compatible and supporting most Ethereum Cancun EVM features, excluding EIP-4844 blob transactions. Kaia provides the `eth` namespace RPC API, enabling developers to seamlessly utilize existing Ethereum SDKs and tools for dApp development. Its Mainnet ID is 8217, and its testnet, Kairos, uses ID 1001.

Klaytn wallet holders will experience a smooth transition; they can continue using their existing wallets on Kaia by merely updating their RPC and block explorer URLs, as their KLAY balances were automatically converted to KAIA. Finschia wallet holders, however, will need to create a new Kaia-compatible wallet. After setting up a new wallet, they can use the dedicated swap service available on the Kaia Portal to convert their FNSA tokens into KAIA, ensuring their assets are accessible on the new network.
