The $HERMES token serves three core purposes. First is voting, where locking tokens grants users the power to decide which liquidity pools receive weekly emissions. Second is staking, which allows lockers to earn 100% of protocol trading fees and bribes from their chosen pools. Finally, the token offers a boosting mechanism, enabling holders of locked tokens (veHERMES) to increase their rewards on provided liquidity by up to 2.5x.
Gauges are the technical mechanisms responsible for distributing HERMES emissions to specific liquidity pools based on community governance. Voters participate in governance to direct emissions and, in exchange, receive 100% of the trading fees and external bribes associated with the pools they support.
