This system designates 21 active validators who are primarily responsible for network operations, such as block production and transaction validation. To further enhance security and resilience, there are also 20 backup "candidate" validators ready to step in. A critical component of this security framework is the implementation of slashing. If any validator is found to be misbehaving, for instance by attempting a double-sign attack or failing to perform their duties, a portion of their staked FON tokens will be confiscated, providing a strong economic deterrent against malicious or negligent behavior. This mechanism ensures network integrity and stability.
