FakeNews (SN66) is a decentralized AI subnet on the Bittensor network, developed by the Gutenberg Team. Its mission is to combat misinformation by establishing a decentralized "source of truth" for news. It utilizes a network of AI models, known as miners, to analyze and verify articles in real-time, distinguishing between legitimate reporting and intentionally falsified or paraphrased content.

The system operates through a challenge-and-response model involving validators and miners. Validators retrieve articles from trusted sources and use Large Language Models (LLMs) to create challenges. These challenges include a paraphrased version of a real article and a completely fabricated version. Miners must then accurately identify the authentic information. This competitive process ensures that the most accurate AI models are rewarded for maintaining news integrity.

Participation requires specialized computational resources rather than traditional hardware. Miners need systems capable of running advanced LLMs to process verification tasks effectively. To maintain their position, miners must meet a baseline accuracy of 82%. Validators require a significant stake in the native ecosystem token to secure the network and oversee the challenge process. This structure ensures that only high-performing participants contribute to the network's decentralized truth-seeking mission.
