The migration from NEXT to CLEAR follows a 1:1 ratio. For users holding tokens on Layer 2 networks such as Arbitrum, Optimism, or Polygon, the migration is generally handled automatically, and CLEAR should replace NEXT in your wallet. However, if your tokens are held on the Ethereum Mainnet (L1), you must perform a manual migration through the official Everclear staking and migration portal. Completing this migration is essential for participating in protocol governance, earning staking rewards, and qualifying for seasonal community incentives.

When you stake CLEAR tokens, they are converted into "vote-bonded" CLEAR (vbCLEAR). This represents your locked position within the protocol and grants you voting power for governance decisions. Holders of vbCLEAR are eligible for rewards, which include a portion of the protocol's transaction fees and a share of allocated reward pools for specific seasons. To maximize these benefits, stakers are encouraged to vote in every epoch or delegate their power to active community members, as votes do not automatically carry over.

Staking CLEAR involves a commitment period with a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 24 months. Longer lock periods result in higher voting power and increased reward potential. While the protocol provides a way to secure the network, early withdrawal before the chosen lock period expires will incur a penalty. This penalty ranges from 5% to 22.5% of the staked amount, depending on the time remaining in the commitment. Users should select a staking duration that aligns with their long-term participation goals.
