Etarn is a Web3 sustainability project that focuses on improving global sanitation and public health through a unique model often referred to as Toilet to Earn. The toilets collect human waste and process it into liquid organic fertilizer, which is then provided to farmers and agricultural cooperatives to support sustainable farming. This process helps reduce environmental pollution and lessens the reliance on chemical fertilizers. Additionally, the project plans to generate carbon credits by verifying the reduction in methane and other greenhouse gas emissions resulting from its waste management practices. Users interact with the system by using the smart toilets. Each facility features a digital monitor that displays a QR code. By scanning this code, users can receive rewards in the form of the native ETAN token. These monitors also serve as advertising platforms, creating a revenue stream from digital placements that supports the maintenance of the facilities and the overall ecosystem. The ETAN token serves several roles within this framework. Beyond being a reward for users, it is intended to be used for transactions related to fertilizer sales and carbon credit settlements. The project also explores the utilization of anonymized health and sanitation data, which can be shared with research institutions to improve public health initiatives. The broader mission of Etarn is to leverage decentralized technology to create self-sustaining sanitation systems that empower local communities. By combining waste management, renewable resource production, and digital rewards, the project seeks to build a scalable solution for global sustainability and social impact. Future plans include expanding the smart toilet network to other countries in Asia and Africa and introducing gamification elements to further encourage community participation in environmental conservation.
