While possessing "memetic" energy, the team explicitly states it is a utility token, serving as the foundation of DreamNet. With $DOOD, users can acquire "gear" and wearables for avatars in Doodles 2, participate in Doodles DAO voting, mint "Place Tokens" for narrative settings, and engage with AI-driven storytelling tools. It is central to powering character creation and avatar customization, providing access to exclusive experiences within the evolving Web3 entertainment brand.

The initial $DOOD airdrop took place around May 9, 2025. Eligibility extended to holders of "OG" Doodles NFTs, Doodles 2 assets, and other ecosystem components like Dooplicators. To claim, participants typically needed to link their Ethereum wallet, which held the qualifying NFTs, to a Solana wallet to receive the $DOOD tokens. A significant portion of the supply was also allocated to "New Blood" – Solana-native users and specific partner communities – to broaden ecosystem participation. Claims usually have a specific manual window, for instance, a 77-day period following the Token Generation Event.

The Doodles project strategically launched $DOOD on Solana, moving beyond its Ethereum origins, to leverage Solana's lower transaction fees and higher processing speeds.
