DeepBook is a decentralized exchange protocol on the Sui blockchain, utilizing a Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) model, akin to traditional financial exchanges, rather than Automated Market Makers (AMMs). It facilitates efficient, secure trading by precisely matching buy and sell orders based on price and submission time. DeepBook aims to consolidate fragmented liquidity by serving as Sui's unified order book, granting over 20 Sui DeFi applications access to shared liquidity. It leverages Sui's object-centric Move language for parallel execution, achieving high throughput, low latency, and minimal transaction fees.

DeepBook offers several advantages, including deep, shared liquidity that aggregates trading volume and reduces slippage across dApps on Sui. Its CLOB model enables better price execution through limit orders and advanced market-making strategies. The DEEP token is central to the DeepBook Protocol and the broader Sui DeFi ecosystem. Its primary utilities include paying for transaction and pool creation fees on the platform, often at a discounted rate. Users can stake DEEP tokens to earn rewards and participate in pool-level governance, voting on key parameters like trading fees. DeepBook employs a unique governance system designed to prevent whale dominance. Additionally, DEEP incentivizes liquidity providers and market makers with rebates and volume discounts to ensure deep liquidity.

The DEEP token has a maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. An initial circulating supply of 2.5 billion tokens, representing 25% of the total, was unlocked at genesis. The remaining tokens are slated for release over a seven-year schedule. A substantial portion, 61.57%, is allocated for ecosystem growth, which includes funding developer grants and liquidity mining initiatives. The remaining 28.43% is designated for core contributors and early backers, subject to a defined vesting schedule.
