Corn is an Ethereum Layer-2 (L2) network built on the Arbitrum Orbit stack. Its unique focus is "BTCFi," aiming to seamlessly integrate Bitcoin's vast liquidity into the broader Ethereum DeFi ecosystem. It provides a secure and efficient environment where Bitcoin-backed assets can be used for various DeFi activities, bridging the two largest crypto economies. It's a technical project, not a meme coin, designed to unlock new opportunities for Bitcoin holders in DeFi.

Corn operates with a dual-token system: CORN and BTCN. BTCN (BitCorn) is a hybrid tokenized version of Bitcoin, serving as the network's gas token for all transaction fees. It is backed 1:1 by native Bitcoin. CORN, on the other hand, is the network's native governance token. It is utilized within the "popCORN" system, allowing holders to participate in voting on yield emissions and directing network rewards across the ecosystem.

Kernels are points that serve as a precursor to the CORN airdrop. You can primarily earn Kernels by depositing approved assets, such as WBTC, USDC, or ETH, into specific "Silos" on the Corn network. Additional ways include completing social tasks, for instance, on platforms like Galxe. The project also features a multi-tiered referral system, where you earn a percentage from direct invitations and subsequent tiers. Kernels are often credited every 21 minutes, with minimum deposit requirements to remain competitive.

Corn secures bridged Bitcoin through a "hybrid custodial" model. This approach involves leveraging trusted third-party custodians like Coinbase and BitGo for storing native Bitcoin, which helps prevent de-pegging. Crucially, the network also integrates the Babylon protocol. Babylon enables Bitcoin staking to contribute to the overall security of the Corn Layer-2 chain itself, enhancing its robustness and integrity. This combined strategy aims to offer a secure and reliable pathway for Bitcoin into the Ethereum DeFi space.

The "Crop Circle" is Corn’s economic flywheel, designed to offer "Super Yield" to participants. Users can achieve these enhanced returns by staking their CORN tokens. By doing so, they gain the ability to direct network-level rewards and various "bribes" to specific decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and liquidity pools within the Corn ecosystem. This system encourages active participation in governance and provides incentives for liquidity providers, fostering a dynamic and rewarding environment for the community.

The "popCORN" system is Corn’s governance mechanism, modeled after Curve’s veTokenomics. Users lock their CORN tokens for a specified duration, typically up to four years, to receive popCORN. The amount of popCORN obtained dictates their voting power. With popCORN, holders can vote on yield emissions for different liquidity pools, effectively allowing them to direct higher rewards or "bribes" to their preferred pools or strategies. This empowers the community to actively participate in shaping the network's economic incentives and yield distribution.
