The CLY token serves as the primary gateway to the Colony Lab ecosystem. Its utility focuses on three main pillars: Ecosystem Farming, Early-Stage Deal Access, and Governance. By staking CLY, users unlock multiple revenue streams including project airdrops and platform fees. It is also required to participate in seed and private sales for upcoming Avalanche-based projects. Finally, holders can exercise governance rights, voting on how the Colony treasury assets are deployed.

Participation follows a structured two-token process. First, users must stake their CLY tokens on the official application. Upon staking, they receive ANT tokens at a ratio of 1 CLY to 100 ANT. When a new project, known as a 'NEST,' opens for funding, users commit their ANT tokens as collateral to secure an allocation. Once the allocation is confirmed, the user pays for the investment using USDC.

Staking CLY allows users to benefit from Ecosystem Farming, which provides four primary reward types. These include airdrops from early-stage projects funded by Colony Lab, AVAX rewards generated by Colony’s validator nodes, and a share of platform fees from staking and unstaking activities. Additionally, stakers receive yield from the Colony Avalanche Index ($CAI), offering broad exposure to the Avalanche ecosystem.

Colony Lab uses a specific fee structure to protect long-term stakers. There is a 2% deposit fee when initially staking CLY, which is redistributed to the existing staking pool. To prevent 'airdrop farming,' the unstaking fee is dynamic; it begins at 10% immediately following an airdrop and gradually scales down to 2% over an 8-day period.

Liquid Vesting solves a major pain point in venture capital where tokens are often locked for long periods. Through Colony’s native decentralized exchange (DEX), users can trade their 'locked' or 'vesting' tokens before they are officially released. This provides liquidity and allows investors to exit or adjust their positions early, a feature typically unavailable in traditional seed and private sale investments.

Colony Lab prioritizes security and has undergone multiple audits by reputable firms, including Paladin, Hacken, and Omniscia.
