csUSDC is an ERC-4626 receipt token issued by Coinshift that represents USDC deposited into a vault on the Morpho Protocol. While regular USDC is a standard, non-yield-bearing stablecoin, csUSDC is yield-bearing. By holding csUSDC, users act as lenders in a decentralized vault, and the token's value grows relative to USDC over time as interest and rewards are collected.

Yield is generated from three primary sources: lending interest paid by borrowers on the Morpho protocol, SHIFT governance token emissions from Coinshift, and MORPHO reward incentives. Yield accrues automatically to the token because it follows the ERC-4626 standard. This means the value of the receipt token increases compared to the underlying asset, removing the need for users to manually stake or claim rewards.

These are two distinct assets within the Coinshift ecosystem. csUSDC is primarily focused on on-chain lending markets. In contrast, csUSDL was designed to be backed by real-world assets, such as US Treasury Bills. Following recent changes to the USDL backing, csUSDC remains a separate liquidity option for users seeking yield through decentralized credit markets rather than real-world asset exposure.

Users can obtain csUSDC by depositing USDC directly into the Coinshift Vault through the official dashboard. It is also available for acquisition through major decentralized trading platforms and liquid aggregators. This flexibility allows users to enter a yield-bearing position using existing USDC holdings across the Ethereum network without complex technical requirements.

There are typically no mandatory lockup periods for csUSDC, providing users with high capital efficiency and liquidity. However, the ability to redeem USDC depends on the available liquidity within the underlying vault. If the vault is highly utilized by borrowers, users may need to wait for loan repayments or for new capital to enter the vault before completing a withdrawal.

Security is prioritized through multiple audits of the underlying Morpho Protocol and professional management by financial curators. The vault often maintains high risk ratings from independent credit agencies like Credora. However, as a receipt token, csUSDC carries risks associated with the price stability of the underlying USDC peg and the smart contract integrity of the decentralized protocols involved.
