Caldera is a Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) platform enabling developers to deploy custom, high-performance app-specific blockchains using frameworks like Arbitrum Orbit, OP Stack, and ZKsync with ease. Its flagship innovation, the "Metalayer," acts as a unifying infrastructure. This Metalayer connects fragmented rollups, allowing diverse blockchains, regardless of their underlying technology (e.g., Optimistic or ZK), to seamlessly share liquidity and communicate. The ERA token is central to the Caldera ecosystem, serving multiple vital functions. Firstly, it acts as an omnichain gas token, enabling users to pay for transactions across various Caldera-powered chains within the Metalayer using a single asset. Secondly, ERA is used for staking, where validators and crucial infrastructure providers stake tokens to secure the network and ensure the integrity of cross-chain messages. Lastly, ERA holders gain governance rights, allowing them to vote on critical protocol upgrades, direct treasury allocations, and participate in the election of security council members, ensuring community-driven development and decision-making.

The ERA token has a strictly capped total supply of 1 billion tokens. Its distribution model is structured to foster a robust and sustainable ecosystem. Approximately 35% is allocated to the Foundation and ecosystem development, while investors account for about 32%. The core team receives around 15% of the supply, aligning their incentives with the project's long-term success. An initial community airdrop distributed roughly 7% of tokens, with the remaining 10% dedicated to ongoing Research & Development. This strategic distribution aims to balance community engagement, investor support, and continuous innovation.
