Bio Passport (BIOT) is a Web3 project designed as a digital platform for managing personal health records and providing blockchain-based healthcare data solutions. Its primary goal is to address existing challenges within the healthcare industry by integrating healthcare services more directly into individuals' daily lives. The core of the Bio Passport platform revolves around Decentralized Personal Health Records (DPHR), built using Decentralized Identity (DID) technology. This framework aims to offer accessible, secure, and consistent management of personal health data. The platform functions as a telehealth service, accessible via a mobile application, which includes features for remote health monitoring. It can be used in conjunction with test kits for various conditions such as COVID-19, atopy, and lung cancer. Technologically, Bio Passport operates as a sub-chain of the Ethereum blockchain, utilizing an Acyclic Directional Hash Chain (ADHC) consensus algorithm for transaction validation. Key technical components include biometric encryption, which requires private keys and biometric verification to decrypt data, and multi-party access control, allowing patients to grant temporary access to specific records securely. The native utility token of the ecosystem is BIOT. Users can earn BIOT tokens by interacting with the platform. These tokens can then be utilized to pay for services offered within the ecosystem, be staked in a staking pool, or used to purchase diagnostic kits, medical tourism packages, and other affiliated medical or beauty products and accommodations. The platform also incentivizes users for contributing anonymized health data to research institutions or pharmaceutical companies through a marketplace. Bio Passport launched its beta service for Android and iOS applications in the fourth quarter of 2020, followed by the initiation of business-to-business (B2B) contracts in the first quarter of 2021. The official Bio Passport service was launched in the second quarter of 2021. Looking ahead, the project's 2026 roadmap outlines plans for a service overhaul, rebranding efforts, and the introduction of a wellness tracker beta service alongside an AI coaching system in the second quarter of 2026.
