The V2 token upgrade was primarily initiated to protect users whose tokens were connected to certain self-custody wallets that were undergoing deprecation. A secondary but equally important reason was to establish a dedicated Governance Council, designed to streamline and enhance the efficiency of managing critical protocol parameters. This move aims to ensure robust and responsive community-driven decision-making for the protocol's future.

If you held V1 tokens or had unclaimed V1 rewards, the V2 tokens were automatically distributed as an airdrop to the exact same wallet address. This distribution was based on a snapshot taken in late September 2025. To view your V2 tokens in your wallet, you simply need to import the new V2 contract address: `0xAEEAa594e7dc112D67b8547fe9767a02c15B5597`. No manual claim or migration process was required for eligible holders.

Eligibility for the initial $ANVL airdrop was extended to specific addresses actively providing AMP collateral on the Capacity platform. The determining factor was a snapshot taken at Ethereum block height 20,000,000, which occurred on June 1, 2024. Addresses meeting this criterion were eligible to claim ANVL tokens on a 1:1 basis relative to their collateralized AMP. A critical "Proof" requirement involved initiating a transaction at anvil.xyz/claim within a 12-month window ending June 1, 2025; failure to do so resulted in forfeiture.

The original vesting plan for the airdropped tokens outlined a comprehensive 60-month total timeline. This schedule began with a 12-month cliff period, concluding in June 2025. Following this initial cliff, a 48-month linear vesting period commenced, during which tokens unlock incrementally on a per-block basis. This ensures a gradual and consistent release of tokens over an extended period.

In the context of Anvil, a 'Letter of Credit' (LOC) in Web3 is a digital certificate of credit issued by locking collateral, such as ETH or USDC, into a secure vault. This digital LOC functions like a verifiable guarantee, enabling instant payments, facilitating seamless asset bridging between different blockchain networks, or securing trades on centralized exchanges. It addresses the common issue of multi-day waiting periods for funds to clear, offering a fast, decentralized solution for financial transactions and collateralization in the digital asset space.

Governance for the Anvil protocol is conducted through Tally.xyz, serving as the primary platform for community decision-making. To cast votes on various proposals, such as adding support for new collateral types like wETH, USDT, or USDC, token holders must hold V2 ANVL tokens directly in their wallet or have them delegated to their address. This mechanism ensures that only active and engaged members of the community, holding the current token standard, can influence the future development and parameters of the protocol.
