Stella, previously known as Alpha Finance Lab and later Alpha Venture DAO, is a decentralized finance protocol that focuses on leveraged yield strategies. The project rebranded to Stella to better reflect its mission of redefining how leverage works within the Web3 ecosystem. It is designed to be a multichain platform, currently operating on networks such as Ethereum, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, and Avalanche. The core innovation of the project is its Pay-As-You-Earn model. This system allows users, referred to as strategy seekers or leveragoors, to access leveraged liquidity at zero upfront borrowing cost. Unlike traditional decentralized lending platforms that charge hourly or daily interest regardless of a user's performance, Stella only collects a fee when a leveraged position is closed with a profit. This fee is a portion of the earned yield, which is then shared with the lenders who provided the liquidity. The ecosystem is divided into two primary components: Stella Strategy and Stella Lend. Stella Strategy allows users to open leveraged positions across various decentralized finance protocols to maximize their yield farming or trading returns. Stella Lend is the side of the protocol where users can deposit their assets into lending pools. These lenders earn a real yield derived from the shared profits of successful leveraged strategies, rather than from inflationary token emissions or fixed interest rates. The native token of the project is ALPHA. It serves as the primary tool for governance, allowing token holders to vote on key protocol parameters and future developments. Additionally, users can stake the token to earn rewards. Staking provides access to a portion of the protocol's revenue and, in some cases, provides early access or benefits related to projects incubated within the ecosystem. Security is a major focus for the project, and its smart contracts undergo regular external audits by third-party security firms. By removing the barrier of high borrowing costs, Stella aims to drive more usage toward decentralized exchanges and money markets, creating a more capital-efficient environment for both active traders and passive liquidity providers.
