ApeBond is a multi-chain bonding protocol that establishes an on-chain Over-The-Counter (OTC) marketplace. The rebrand from ApeSwap in late 2023 marked a strategic transition from a traditional Decentralized Exchange (DEX) to a protocol focused on sustainable liquidity. By moving beyond the standard DEX model, ApeBond helps projects raise capital and build liquidity without the volatility often associated with traditional liquidity pools. The project now focuses on creating a more stable and professional environment for both developers and users within the DeFi space.

The bonding mechanism allows users to purchase tokens at a discount compared to the prevailing market rate. Instead of receiving these tokens immediately, they are issued as an NFT that represents a claim on the assets. These tokens then vest or release gradually over a predetermined period, such as 30, 60, or 90 days. This system provides a structured way for projects to distribute tokens while encouraging long-term holding and reducing sudden market impact.

ApeSwap’s original tokens, BANANA and GNANA, were migrated to the new ABOND token as part of the project’s evolution. Most community inquiries regarding this process involve claiming migrated tokens through Migration Bonds and understanding the specific vesting schedules attached to them. Any BANANA tokens that were not migrated during the designated window effectively reduced the potential total supply, as their ABOND counterparts were never minted, aligning with the protocol’s long-term tokenomics strategy.

Unlike many DeFi protocols that distribute rewards using inflationary tokens, ApeBond focuses on Real Yield. When users stake their ABOND tokens, they become eligible to earn a share of the actual revenue generated by the protocol. This revenue is primarily derived from fees collected during bond sales and is often distributed in established assets like BNB. This model aims to provide sustainable value to stakers based on protocol activity rather than simple token emissions.

Ape Tiers are a loyalty system where staking ABOND earns users Tier Points. These points determine a user's rank, ranging from Bronze to Legend. Higher tiers unlock significant advantages, including access to Flash Bonds, which offer steep discounts on major assets. Additionally, higher-tier members receive priority access to new project token sales via the launchpad and further discounts on standard bonds. This system creates a token sink, requiring users to hold and stake ABOND to access the best opportunities.

ApeBond is a multi-chain protocol with a presence on several major networks, including BNB Chain, Polygon, Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Base. The project has also expanded into the Solana and Sonic ecosystems. Looking forward, the roadmap includes the introduction of Centralized Bonds, which are specifically designed for projects that maintain their primary liquidity on centralized platforms.
