aSTETH is a liquid token that represents staked ETH (stETH) deposited into the Aave lending protocol. When users supply stETH, aSTETH is minted, allowing them to earn staking rewards while simultaneously using their deposited capital as collateral. This enables users to participate in various decentralized finance activities, including borrowing other digital assets against their staked ETH, enhancing capital efficiency.

The yield for aSTETH primarily originates from the ETH staking rewards generated by the underlying stETH. When stETH is staked, it earns rewards from securing the Ethereum network. Users depositing stETH into Aave receive aSTETH, allowing them to capture these staking rewards. Additionally, advanced strategies might involve leveraging this position by borrowing other assets against aSTETH collateral to potentially amplify returns.

Significant risks include Liquidation Risk, where a substantial depeg of stETH from ETH could lead to collateral liquidation, especially in leveraged positions. Smart Contract Risk exists due to potential vulnerabilities or bugs in Aave, Lido, or integrated protocols. Oracle Risk arises from reliance on price oracles; their manipulation or failure could cause incorrect valuations and unintended liquidations. Users acquire aSTETH primarily by depositing their stETH (staked ETH) into the Aave lending protocol. Once deposited, aSTETH is minted and returned to the user's wallet. To manage and view aSTETH holdings, users typically need to add the token's contract address to their preferred Web3-compatible wallet, ensuring visibility and enabling further interactions within decentralized finance.

Expected returns from aSTETH strategies, especially those involving leverage, can be lower if the cost of borrowing digital assets on Aave increases significantly. Profitability relies on the ETH staking yield outperforming borrowing costs.
